Reducing EXO Travel’s environmental footprint, useful tips…
EXO Travel’s dedicated team is following its consumption of natural resources, through their Resource Monitoring Tool on EXO24 (updated monthly in each country). This process enables to measure progresses and to set up reduction targets & goals. “We can only improved what is measured”.
What are we talking about?
We have chosen to compare data for paper, energy, waste generation based on the number of people in each offices. However, it doesn’t take into account the impact of low/high seasons. You can see below on the left side of each picture a graph displaying a comparison among all EXO offices, involved in resources monitoring, it shows clearly how much each country account for if EXO was considered as a whole.
Towards Zero paper offices
There is still have a long way to go to achieve this target, but it’s only getting closer each day…Paper usage decreased by over 30% since starting to monitor it. Now, the target is to use less than 200 sheets of paper per people per month…which has been achieved in already 8 EXO offices.
Remember the good habits:
- Print only what is necessary/mandatory
- Use hyperlinks & save documents on our servers
- Scan documents & send them online
- Use draft paper
- Print double side as much as possible.
Lowering energy consumption
At EXO, they strive to use less energy and it’s everyone’s responsibility. As you can see below, the consumption is well spread among each EXO offices (around 9% per office). Each office must try to be the most energy efficient office, at this stage everybody can still win! However, thanks to data monitoring, we have observed that some smaller offices have a much higher consumption than bigger such as Phuket Vs Saigon etc. Which means that it should try to emphasis efforts on energy reduction, also towards EXO branches and not only main offices. Some might need renovation & major improvements in terms of energy savings.
Remember the good habits:
- Use recommended temperatures for Air Conditioning
- Create an air flow using fans
- Close all doors & windows when AC is on
- Turn off all electric devices before leaving at the end of the day- It’s everybody’s responsibility!
The best waste is the one that we do not produce!
Waste is a serious issue all over the world, EXO has to play its part even if it may seems as a drop in the ocean. Yearly target of less than 5Kg of waste per person, is already over-reached. As a first step, EXO has highlighted the importance of recycling with recycling stations in its offices. Now, we encourage to put more efforts towards reducing the amount of waste ending up in office’s trash bins.

- Say NO to plastic bags
- Avoid take away
- Bring your re-usable cups/mugs/lunch boxes/bags
- Buy only what you truly need!
