Projects supported
Last May, we have organized an EXO Foundation commission during which we have reviewed all projects submitted by non profit organizations. Most projects were fascinating and we are proud to financially support 15 of them. A second commission will be organized in September.
IECD – global donation of $20,000 to 3 Hospitality vocational training schools for vulnerable young people. Schools run by IECD and their partners are located in Thailand, Myanmar & Vietnam. We have also provided financial & technical support to the publication of ASSET Hospitality Eco-guide aiming to guide businesses & schools to adopt sustainable practices.
RefillMyBottle – donation for the development of a Mobile Application enabling travelers to locate water stations for refills in Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia etc. In each country, we are working towards enlisting more water stations in the App in cooperating with other networks such as IMPACT in Vietnam & RefillNotLandfill. Cambodia
Soksabike – donation to a social enterprise in tourism based in Battambang, involved in community development and giving opportunities to vulnerable young people to work in tourism (especially as tour guides). Technical support to their team and in exchange training for EXO tour guides on responsible tourism. More info here.
Shanty Town – donation to support deprived families in a slum area of Phnom Penh (historical partner). More info here.
Laos
Vientianale – Film festival “On the road” promoting Lao culture & heritage, accessible to rural villagers and youth training in video making. More info here.
Laos Kids Hospital – through Luang Prabang Marathon. More info here.
Myanmar
ChuChu – donation to a social enterprise crafting souvenirs with recycled materials, support to purchase new equipment in order to create nicer crafts to sell to travelers. More info here.
Malaysia
Trash Heroes – financial support to EXO Malaysia team for Beach Clean Up organized in partnership with Trash Heroes.
Indonesia
Lombok EarthQuake – A total of 3 shipments of first aid & necessities have been shipped to the island or bought locally after the dramatic earthquake. Thanks to the support of Murianto working for EXO and based in Lombok, everything has been delivered to the local communities that needed the most. He has also managed to set up partnerships with other active organizations such as the association of local tour guides.
Vietnam
Nha Chong Lu – donation after to an organization of architects & skilled workers joining hands to build resilient houses in Central & South Vietnam (against typhoons, flooding etc.). More info here.
GAIA Nature & conservation – donation for the plantation of EXO Travel community forest of 500 trees planted (1ha) & protection of this land for 4 years in a Biosphere area near Ho Chi Minh City. More info here.
Va Va Cu Chi – donations to support to victims affected by Orange Agent in Cu Chi area, chosen by EXO Vietnam team since 2 years. More info here.
Viet Youth on Sustainable Tourism – conference & workshop on responsible tourism organized by students in partnership with Hanoi University & British Council. More info here.
