Plastic Waste Never Dies
The EXO Foundation is happy to announce the launch of an animation video Plastic Waste Never Dies’. This video is part of the Waste management & bottle house project led by EXO Foundation, aiming to raise awareness about waste management. It is inspired from our previous comic strip ‘Comic Strip Don’t Waste your Waste English ’.
This animation video is primarily targeted at the younger Cambodian audience. It was produced by the talented artists of 1,000 Hands Animation Studio a department of Phare Ponleu Selpak social and educational project based out in Battambang, under the direction of Vincent Buso from the Famous Nantes Pivaut School of Applied Arts.
It was designed to alert local communities on the detrimental consequences of human health through plastic degradation in nature, in a country where wrapping goods in banana and lotus leaves was the norm until the mid-’90s, but gradually replaced by plastic bags now littering roadsides, blocking drains worsening floods in cities and, polluting seas and rivers.
Shown on TVs, through social networks and soon in Phnom Penh cinemas, it was officially launched during the National Campaign Against Plastic on November 27th in front of Wat Bothum in Phnom Penh by UNESCO, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Environment and the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, gathering around 500 people who then undertook a clean up action around Wat Bothum and the Royal Palace.
