EXO guides join our march towards sustainability
EXO Travel’s commitment to sustainability is a continuous process and requires involvement from all areas of the business; tour guides are essential players in creating memorable travel experiences who – through their interpretations and sound advice – can transform a great journey into a meaningful and unforgettable adventure.
True to our dedicated approach working towards more responsible tourism in Asia and boosted by EXO Travel successful Travelife certification in Vietnam and Cambodia, we have launched new efforts and initiated a series of training programs focused on responsible tourism and designed especially for tour guides.
Sustainability Coordinators and EXO’s Operations teams across all of destinations, together with the EXO Foundation, have developed a variety of modules based on the main aspects highlighted in our EXO Cares booklet, to aid with providing ethical, cultural and environmental tips to travelers. These include quiz games, experiencing a responsible tour of Phuket on E-bikes, visiting a bee farm, and a workshop conducted by Friends International detailing preventive actions focused on child safety. In Cambodia, best practice was demonstrated at the guide training, during which the hotel was asked to replace plastic bottles by a jug of water and proper glasses.
These sessions are helping to shape new skills for our guides and enable passionate debates and exchanges, indicative of the pride found in working for a company that truly cares for their home country and people.
As Einstein said – “Education is not the learning of facts it is rather the training of the mind to think.”
