EXO Foundation partners with Hy Vong School for the deaf in Ho Chi Minh City
Schools in Vietnam are not equipped to deliver the special education needs that children with auditory impairments require. Founded in 1986 by a former Catholic nun, Hy Vong School provides valuable learning opportunities for 108 children who would otherwise have no access to a proper education. As well as teaching sign language and reading and writing skills to children from kindergarden to high school age, Hy Vong School assists parents and families to understand and cope with their child’s impairment and to interact with them in a positive way The overall aim is to encourage their abilities and to build the confidence and self-esteem that will help these young people play a positive and productive role in society.
The signing of the cooperation agreement between the School and the EXO Foundation and the subsequent donation was facilitated by Mr. Eric Merlin, the CEO of Apple Tree Group, who also donated to support the school’s social and educational objectives.
