Call for donations for Vientiane Rescue Team
The new ambulance of Vientiane Rescue Team needs more support to become fully equipped.
On Sunday 14th April 2013 at 9 pm, the Vientiane Rescue Team (VRT) resumed their 24 hour free emergency rescue ambulance service to all. They can be contacted through the hotline number 020 5666 88 25 (Lao language mostly).
This first aid service to victims of road accident provided by 33 trained and dedicated volunteers was ceased for nearly a year as the car previously used as an ambulance belonging to the Lao Red Cross was no longer available. Supported by EXO Foundation (6 000US$ donation) and Banque Franco Lao, VRT were able to buy a second hand car and customized it into an emergency rescue vehicle to resume their 24 hour services.
However the ambulance is still missing first aid and medical equipment to improve the assistance provided. A total amount of 2,000US$ is needed so it can properly assist road crash victims in Vientiane and surrounding areas.
Every day people are dying on the roads or become handicapped because of lack of a first aid service. This free emergency response ambulance will work 24 hours a day to prevent such serious injuries or death on our roads.
